For instance, today one of my stocks fell 30% and I was unable to find out why. I use Ameritrade and MSN and saw the article saying their financial report came out yesterday, but novice that I am, although I read the article, I didn't see an indication that the report was bad. Is there a good source that spells it out better and is up to date?
If you are using Yahoo as your home page just type the stock symbol in the "stocks quote" box and you will find links to all sorts of info on that stock. Or, type the name of the company in the Yahoo search box and all the latest info on the company will be found.

finance.yahoo.com for current news. As far as good or bad? That's interpretation; nobody's going to spell it out for you with a guarantee. You need to do your own homework.
I think all answers so far are good. I suggest watching or taping and then watching Fast Money on CNBC, they provide expert opinions on a myriad of stocks, and unlress your stock is a penney stock, the 30% drop would be in their "pops/drops" segment and you'll get a read on putting more in or taking what you've got left out.....as well as best advice for future picks
