if i started school jan 2012 with financial aid do i need a 1098-T to file taxes?
Ok i applied for financial aid but i did not attend school the fall of 2011. i only got aid for my spring semester. i looked on my school account for my 1098 t form and it says "You do not have any 1098-T Data available". Since i am going to school and getting help for the year 2012 even though i applied for financial aid for 2011-2012 will i still need this form? or should i just file without it? i did get a loan too but does that have anything with filing for my taxes too? help me out please.
did you attend school at all for the fall semester? if you did some schools will file how much your tuuition costs and even if you payed with loans you may still get a credit. if you did go to school and didnt get your 1098 yet, wit 2 weeks bc they had until jan 31 to get evething out then call the school to find out why you didnt get it. but if you didnt go to school at all in the year of 2011 then you dont need the 1098
You don't need the form--1098-T--because no form was generated, as the statement on your school account says. You didn't go to school in 2011, you didn't receive any aid, you didn't receive a 1098-T, so why do you think you still "need" this form? Good luck.
