Improving the Philippines economy, any ideas?

The Filipinos on yahoo answers always blame the government for everything especially the economy and nobody steps up. Here is an example of a country coming together to improve their economy. Take a look at little India (which is a poor country also) several months ago they revealed the "Tata Nano" which is a car that gets 56mpgs. They are selling these cars like crazy to the U.S. . We all love these cars because we needed some type of relief from the high gas prices. Now look at that country. That is an example and is a very impressive one. It didn't happen overnight but the people of India made it happen. I wish someday the the Philippines can produce because their getting left behind. I understand why a lot of Filipinos immigrate (or wish to do so someday) to improve their lives because their country is not providing. However, there will come a day that some of those Filipinos have no choice and need to come back to the Philippines. It just would be nice to come back to something rather than nothing. I'm not trying to offend anyone, if you comprehend my thoughts in a rude way then just think of it as tough love.

Filipinos are often too poor, ignorant, lazy, jaded or apathetic to make a difference hence the current state of the Philippines. Wallowing in pity and despair. This is an unholy cycle since poverty, ignorance etc. only lead to more poverty and ignorance... What we really need is to rekindle the burning passion for excellence which is the driving force for all progress. We should start with ourselves (Ask yourself what can I do to break/transcend my limits, what can I do to become a better person, the best person I can be? And act fervently on it) Eventually, by being role models of nobility and passion, one can help ignite the fires of excellence in other people. But doing this will be tough since the Philippines has been deeply entrenched in a cycle of Prejudice, Greed, Exploitation, Poverty and Cowardice which lead to even more Prejudice, Greed, Exploitation, Poverty and Cowardice which gradually started ever since the Spanish era but breaking free from destructive forces is not an impossible en-devour. All we need is to work together and do our best and by best I mean BE THE BEST!!!! Since the desire to become the best is the reason why progress exists. So, Filipinos should be the best that they can possible be. So that the Philippines will be a better place. ^_____________________^

ask yourselves people. have you not done anything good to improve yourselves? (OF COURSE YOU DID!) if so, do you think youre the only who have strived for something to improve oneself., to improve the lives of people close to you. more than what we think are people who claw their way out of poverty, misery, corruption, etc etc. tried and are trying to claw their way out of the system, but to no avail. never compare The Philippines to India nor to any other country, nor model The Philippines in the form of other countries, or else we will fail once again. dont say anything bad about you own country and your own people, especially when you are not even living there. thats the least we need at this ordeal.

.. you should have not compared the Philippines with India. First and foremost they are not "little" it is a very big country.. compare Philippines to India, even in the Map, anyone can make out the difference in the vastness of the Land.. 'they are over populated' this statement would be true.. however in terms of progress theirs is way far from us.. they have Nuclear warheads.. their computer technology is very much advanced.. Hotmail for instance was written by an Indian. But, of course this is not the point. Indians, are proud.. this may have caused them to become Big. They want to show to the world that they can be superpower as well.. they take pride of their inventions and their government supports them. Whereas, we,take pride of what we have as individuals, of what we call as our own. We tend to work abroad, because our Country can not pay us as much as what we can earn working abroad. But, all for the reason of giving our family a better living.. to have a house, a car, jewelry etc... only few would like to set-up a business that would help boost our economy. I remembered what Ninoy A. have said in one of his interview, ".. Filipinos are simple people.. give them a land to till and they will leave the rest to God'. So true it may seem. It is our simplicity in life that hinders our progress. Not unless we overcome this, we can never become Big. note: Corruption by the way, can be attributed to us having close-family-ties. My father has said once.. nobody steals just for the pleasure of it.. one steal because he want to give his family a decent life.. (of course the ends does not justify the means).

Well this may sound hard too. You complain about people doing what you yourself are doing, and not doing what you say should be done. In other words while some work hard in this republic and pay taxes and contribute to their families welfare. Take part in elections and local meetings and care about their homes and neighbors. You sit on your butt out of the heat and whine. Get your own cheese . It's expensive here.

Its a lost cause. Just look at some of the replies to your question. They miss the point entirely because you compared India. They still expect the government to "pay" them, and they justify corruption as a necessity to support the family. It will take years of re-education and some catastrophic events to change the way Filipinos think. They have been trying to figure out how to self-govern for 70+ years and they still don't get it.

Step# 1: Have less kids. Having an effective population control policy will go a long way to improve our economy/quality of life...... and no the church's so called natural family planning method isn't an effective way of acheiving that.....
